Incredibly Popular Deli Meat Brand Has Recall Due to Harmful Bacteria
We always hope and assume that the food we purchase for ourselves and our families is safe in Colorado. While nearly all food you would buy from a grocery store would be considered safe, there are product recalls from time to time to make us aware of unsafe food.
There is another food recall in Colorado that will affect many Colorado homes.
Boar's Head: Recall in Colorado
Boar's Head has expanded its recall for its ready-to-eat meat products.
The reason behind the recall, according to the USDA, is that many of the products are contaminated with listeria monocytognes. This is a type of bacteria that can cause a very serious infection known as listeria.
Listeria Explained
The CDC classifies listeria as an invasive illness. The most common symptoms are fever, headaches, stiff neck, fatigue, and flu-like symptoms. About 260 Americans die from listeria annually. I have had food poisoning and it is no joke. Listeria is far more serious than typical food poisoning.
How to Check If Your Product Is Recalled in Colorado
The first thing you should do is check your sell-by date if you have Boar's Head products in your refrigerator.
USDA says that all products with a 29-JUL-2024 through 17-OCT-24 sell-by date are affected by the recall. If you have a Boar's Head product with that sell-by date, you need to immediately throw it away.
If you have consumed the product, we recommend setting up an appointment with your doctor or physician.
You should never risk eating contaminated food.
