Colorado’s Growth Spurt: An End in Sight for the Transplant Trend?
Complaining about new residents and transplants is a conversation you hear a lot in Colorado.
There have been waves of new residents throughout the years. Do you want to hear something shocking? Two years ago, new research showed that only 42% of people who live in Colorado were born in the state.
Well, we might be seeing fewer out-of-state license plates here in the next few years because experts say Colorado is not a good state to move to anymore.
Colorado Research Is Surprising
I find Colorado to be a phenomenal place to call home. I live in Northern Colorado and it has everything I need and more to live a happy and healthy life.
Many Coloradans feel the same way.
However, Consumer Affairs released a new ranked of the best states to move to in 2024 and Colorado did not make the top ten.
In fact, Colorado did not even make the top 20.
Consumer Affairs developed a ranking based on data that considered cost-effectiveness, financial stability, learning, healthcare, quality of life, and safety.
Where Colorado Ranked
Colorado was the 22nd best state to move to. Which is shockingly, because it always felt like Colorado was consistently in the top ten.
Last year, we discussed that Colorado was kicked out of the top ten. We have dropped significantly lower this year.
We were ranked lower primarily due to safety. We had the third-worst safety ranking compared to every other state in the nation.
A certain state really caught my eye on the ranking. Somehow, Alabama was ranked as a better state to move to.
Yes, Alabama. That one hurts.
