New Site Shows Colorado DUI Data Open to the Public
Two Colorado law agencies joined together in the summer of 2025 to launch an online "dashboard" showing data results of state blood tests related to being pulled over for being under the influence.
Many of us Coloradans have been pulled over for being under the influence or know someone who has. Many Coloradans get their blood tested for alcohol or drugs after being in a accident, and those substances are suspected of being the cause. It's rare that a person sets out to intentionally break the law and/or put others in danger; yet, the numbers show that it happens a lot.
Generally, every year over 16,000 arrests are made in Colorado of drivers being suspected of being impaired by alcohol or illicit (or prescription) drugs.

The online dashboard was launched jointly by the Colorado Division of Criminal Justice and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, in the effort to "inform the public and improve understanding of trends in impaired driving." The dashboard is updated every six months, beginning with January to June of 2025.
Key Data Points of the Toxicology Dashboard:
- Mean Time to Complete Testing: Providing insight into the efficiency of the toxicology testing process.
- Percentage of Samples Detecting Potentially Impairing Substances: Showing the prevalence of illicit and prescription drugs and alcohol in suspected impaired driving cases.
- Number of Completed Toxicology Tests by Agency: Differentiating between tests initiated by the Colorado State Patrol and those by all other law enforcement agencies across the state.

The January 2025 - June 2025 data showed that the mean BAC (Blood Alcohol Concentration) results from those suspected of DUI was .181. 5% of results came in at over .320; the majority (21%) came in at .016 to .019. When it came to Delta-9 THC, where the Colorado limit is 5 nanograms, the mean was 9.7 nanograms, with a majority of blood tests (28%) coming in at 1.0-4.9 nanograms.
