9 Great Grocery Stores That America Loves But Aren’t Yet in Colorado
Every week, tens of thousands of Coloradans make a visit to their local grocery store. When you think of all the different grocery stores the state has, it does seem crazy that there are so many that people love, but we don't have.
It's probably the most frustrating for those who have moved to Colorado from other states, which do have a grocery store that they've always liked, but we don't have. It would be like moving to Florida, which has plenty of pizza places, but not finding a Beau Jo's. That would drive many of those "transplants" crazy.
While Colorado does have many national grocers, such as Safeway, King Soopers and Natural Grocers, USA Today's expert panel assembled a list of grocery stores for their Top 10; that list was whittled to 10 by USA Today readers. Sure, times change; who's to say how long it will take for more of these Top 10 to open just one location in Colorado. And, the way things seem to go, Colorado Springs would be the city to get one. The Springs always seems to be "launching ground" for successful chains to begin their Colorado journey.

On the list of nine grocery stores that Colorado doesn't have you will find ALDI, whom have made indications that they may be coming to Midtown Fort Collins, but as of the fall of 2025, there is still not one Aldi's in Colorado.
