After 40+ Years, a Beloved Colorado Restaurant Announces Closure
Nobody likes the sound of any Colorado business closing up, but when it's a restaurant that has been a part of the local community for decades, it really stings.
It would be impossible to know how many customers the restaurant has seen since its inception, but it must be in the hundreds of thousands. A restaurant that resides in an unique venue, a restaurant big enough for sports teams to celebrate wins.
The community will certainly miss this place.
Loveland, Colorado 'Train Depot Restaurant' Closes Doors
In what came as a shock to many, Loveland, Colorado's Sports Station American Grill announced that it would be closing after October 31, 2024.

The building that the Sports Station resided in is Loveland's former train depot, dating back to 1878, After the depot closed, the building went through a few incarnations but ultimately has been a restaurant since the early 1980's.
My very first job was working at what was then called The Depot restaurant as a sophomore; it was a trendy hot spot for Downtown Loveland. I remember making a lot of nacho plates in the kitchen.
A Different Name, But Sill a Great Restaurant
In 2006, The Depot became Sports Station, a place for families, softball teams, and friends to have a meal, a drink, to watch games, to just hang out.
It was taken over by a new owner (a longtime employee, known as "Beemer) in 2015 and became Sports Station American Grill.

The General Manager of Sports Station American Grill broke the news about the closure on October 29, 2024:
The phrase "indefinitely" only adds to the mystery on why the restaurant is closing; they'd seem to be doing fine. But then, you never really know when you're just a customer.
