Eggs Will Likely Cost More in Colorado in 2025
It seems things were settling down when it came to buying eggs in Colorado, due to bird flu and inflation; now comes word that a new law may have Coloradans paying more in 2025.
Those delicious eggs that you love so much for breakfast or for baking may be costing you more when 2025 rolls around. It's not like we can "store" eggs, so we just better get ready for "sticker shock."
Will you be enjoying/using eggs less once this begins?
On January 1, 2025, a law that was passed in 2020 will go into effect in Colorado. That law states that eggs that come from farms with more than 3,000 hens will have to prove that those hens were confined in a "cage-free" housing system.
We all know that if it costs more to produce a product that price that consumers pay for that product will increase, as well. So, Coloradans should prepare to pay more for eggs; and not on a short-term basis.

Of course, if you get your eggs from a small farm, you won't have to worry, as it's only the larger Colorado farms (3,000+ hens) that will be mandated to prove their "cage-free" accommodations for hens.
Not only will consumers likely see higher prices on the grocery store shelves, but restaurants who purchase higher-priced eggs for their menu items will have to pass that added cost down to the customer.

Eggs are an easy source of protein, and taste so good; it will be difficult for many Coloradans to eliminate them from their weekly shopping list.
