Another Wage Increase at Hobby Lobby

A company press release issued on September 30th announced the new minimum wage for full-time employees at Hobby Lobby stores would be $19.25 beginning October 1st, 2024. This rate of pay at 40 hours per week would give some Americans an annual salary of around $40,000. According to Hobby Lobby, this is the 13th time employee wages have increased in the last 15 years.

Down Side of Wage Increases

While $19.25 seems much better than the Federal Minimum Wage of $7.25 per hour, the downside of $20-per-hour wages has included a smaller number of jobs, fewer hours, fewer benefits, and a smaller share of overall hours. Hobby Lobby employees are also eligible for medical, prescription, and dental benefits as well as a 401(k).
