Another Popular Colorado Coffee Company Files for Bankruptcy
When it comes to retail and shop news here in Colorado, it’s felt like everything has been going wrong.
For one, the future of places like Lucky’s Market in Fort Collins seems to be up for question, given that the land it sits on was recently sold.
However, the biggest trend as of late has been businesses here in Colorado that are filing for bankruptcy.
For example, Metropolitan Theatres Corp., who owns the Loveland Metrolux Theaters, recently filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, which had many people concerned about the future of the beloved movie theater.
Even more recently, Ink! Coffee, which is a local chain, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy as well.
Now, it appears yet another Colorado coffee company has had to do the exact same thing.
Switchback Coffee Roasters Files for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy
Colorado has a lot of different places you can grab a cup of joe, with the market starting to get busier by the day.
For example, chains like Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii are opening three more locations in Colorado, with two existing locations being in the Colorado Springs area.
Unfortunately, this may have played a role in Switchback Coffee Roasters’ bankruptcy, which is sad given they are a great and underrated specialty coffee brand.
The Daily Coffee News reported that the company had filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy through a petition that was filed on August 19th.
They found that Switchback Coffee Company has estimated liabilities between $500,001 and $1 million, while only having a total estimated amount of assets between $50,001-100,000.
Switchback Coffee Roasters Makes Fantastic Coffee
Currently, Switchback Coffee Roasters only has two locations, both of which are in Colorado Springs: One on 330 N Institute Street and the other on 909 E Moreno Avenue.
What makes this place truly special though is that they sell their own coffee beans, which are highly regarded.
Let’s hope that the business that started back in a garage in 2010 is able to hang on after the bankruptcy.
