Colorado Community College Gets Huge Donation From Metallica
If there’s one thing we can take pride in as Coloradans, it’s that we are generally some of the most educated people in the entire country.
In general, Colorado ranks quite high when it comes to education. WalletHub said the state is the fifth best in the country when it comes to education in general.
When it comes to the percentage of people in the state with bachelor’s degrees, Colorado ranks second in the United States.
On the other hand, even if people here do not opt for the traditional four year path, they still seem to get involved in higher education.
When it comes to people who have at least an associate’s degree or higher, Colorado is actually first in the entire country.
With that being said, a world famous band is recognizing one Colorado community college with a big donation.
Metallica Donates $50,000 to Colorado Community College
As it would turn out, Metallica has a nonprofit called the All Within My Hands Foundation Metallica Scholars that gives out donations to different schools around the country. This is called the Metallica Scholars Initiative.
This year, Front Range Community College was chosen by the program to be awarded $50,000.
Most of the funds, $40,000 in fact, will be going towards the scholarships of 20 students in the program.
In particular, the Metallica Scholars Initiative is all about giving people the resources to practice trades. That’s something that lead singer and guitarist, James Hetfield, really tries to stress about the program.
That means that the money is going towards students who are practicing fields like welding, precision machining, and automation to name a few.
This Isn’t the First Time Metallica Has Donated to Front Range Community College
This is by no means the first time Metallica has given a generous donation to Front Range Community College.
In fact, they made an even bigger donation around the same time last year.
They gave a whopping $100,000 to FRCC’s Center for Integrated Manufacturing program last year.
Hopefully, this is not the last time the metal legends help out a Colorado school.
