Massive Airline Company Looking to Hire 300 People in Colorado
Recently, it’s felt like when there’s news about jobs in Colorado, it’s always about the rising unemployment rate or big layoffs.
This year marked the first time in two years that the unemployment rate in Colorado jumped up to 3.9%. While that’s still below the national average of 4.3%, it’s still not a good sign to say the least.
While many people's unemployment situation in Colorado has been found more to do with hiring practices rather than layoffs, there’s still plenty of those too.
Back in February, the healthcare company, Carestream, laid off over 200 people in their Colorado plant.
On the other hand, Rocky Mountain Crisis Partners let go of 330 employees this year as well.
With news like this taking up headlines, it’s good to hear that one company in Colorado is looking to actually add more jobs.
United Airlines Looking to Add 300 More Jobs in Colorado
While so many companies have looked to downsize their staff in recent years, United Airlines has been looking to do the exact opposite.
This year alone, the airline giant has added 7,000 jobs nationwide.
According to the Colorado Sun, the company has hired 500 employees in the Centennial State alone, and it doesn’t look to be stopping anytime soon.
It has stated that that is not enough, and they are looking to hire 300 more people before the year is over to hit their year-end goal of 800.
Where in Colorado is United Airlines Hiring?
In terms of where the company is hiring, one of the answers is completely obvious; Denver International Airport.
The Colorado Sun noted that United Airlines has been going on an absolute hiring spree at DIA in recent years, upping their staff from 7,000 to 10,000 since 2022 alone.
In fact, the company hired 2,500 people to work there just last year.
However, they’re also looking to gain more employees elsewhere in Colorado as well.
They have also been looking to boost employment at the Colorado Springs Airport as well.
In the past, the company has gotten people from around the company to work there, but now, it seems they want a more dedicated staff at COS.
