Caribou Ranch was a place that produced records for a number of famous musicians in the '70s and '80s, but its life as a studio was cut short in 1985 due to a fire.

However, the ranch itself is still around and has just been listed for sale.

What Was Colorado’s Caribou Ranch?

Back in 1971, musician and producer Jim Guercio bought Caribou Ranch, at which time it was merely a horse ranch, with the end goal of building a state-of-the-art recording studio.

Even before construction was finished, Joe Walsh found himself in a tight spot and with Guercio's permission, became the first major artist to record there. Over the years, famous faces including Elton John, The Beach Boys, John Lennon, Chicago, and many others recorded just outside of Nederland, Colorado at Caribou Ranch.

Unfortunately, the party would come to an end as the studio was tragically destroyed by a fire in 1985.

What’s Colorado’s Caribou Ranch Like Now?

While the legendary studio has been gone for some time, Caribou Ranch is still around and features numerous impressive yet rustic buildings and covers an area of over 1,700 acres.

What's more, the famous ranch is back on the market, listed for a whopping $48.5 million.
