Colorado’s Casa Bonita + 20 New Things You Don’t Remember

As a kid growing up in Colorado in the 1990s, I'm fortunate to have some very fond memories of visiting Casa Bonita. I can recall many birthdays and even our high school senior trip taking place at the famous restaurant known for its cliff divers, massive cave-like layout, and sopapillas.

Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic almost spelled the end for Casa Bonita but when South Park creators and Colorado royalty Trey Parker and  Matt Stone caught wind of this, they swiftly purchased the restaurant and began renovating it.

Casa Bonita has since reopened, however, there are quite a few differences between the place that '90s kids remember compared to what it's like now.

Colorado's Famous Casa Bonita is Back with Some Changes

One of the biggest complaints about the "old" Casa Bonita was the food. In the past, patrons had to go through a cafeteria-like line to order their food, which wasn't of the greatest quality, and then proceed into the restaurant.

Now, patrons must pay to enter Casa Bonita first and then are given various menu choices at their table to choose from.

While the food and the manner of getting it, along with the implementation of ticketed entry are probably the most profound differences, they certainly aren't the only ones.
