These five thrill seekers completed the Pine Box Challenge at Denver's famous Elitch Gardens Theme Park.
What Did this Challenge at Colorado's Largest Theme Park Entail?
This year's participants Kristen, Russell, Adam, Heather, and Hannah from Denver's Westword, (we'll get to more of her experience below) were chosen to spend 24 hours in a coffin at Elitch Gardens.
The prize for completing the challenge was two season passes to Elitch Gardens, two premium dining plans, and other goodies amounting to a value of nearly $900.
What Happened at this Year's Pine Box Challenge at Colorado's Elitch Gardens?
Of this year's five participants, we learned the most from Westword contributor Hannah Metzger.
While the idea of staying in a coffin for 24 hours likely sounds like a miserable experience for anyone who suffers from claustrophobia, the challenge actually sounded pretty fun as long as you're not freaked out by small spaces.
Metzger described late-night rollercoaster rides, haunted house actors being nuisances, fairly tame eating challenges, slightly less tame tactile challenges, and even a scary moment of having dirt shoveled onto her, but it wasn't all bad.
The participants were given water bottles, periodic phone use, meals that didn't include anything gross, and were ultimately treated to what sounds like a pretty exhilarating time.
