5 Ways to Cheat at Clearing the Snow from Your Car in Colorado
Winter in Colorado can mean lots of snow, whether you're on the Front Range or the Western Slope. When it all comes down, it's got to land somewhere, and that's more than likely destined to be your car.
If you're anything like me, cleaning ice and snow off your car is one of your most-hated activities in the history of history. Luckily, I'm a professional layabout, and I've been doing this long enough to have come up with some helpful tips to get the snow off your car with as little effort as possible.
The best part? I'm backing it all up with science. Well, technically it's more accurate to call it science since I'm making most of it up on the spot.
1. Don't Leave the House before 9:30 a.m.
The earlier in the morning it is, the colder it is. That's science. If you want an easier time clearing ice and snow from your windshield, it helps if nature has already warmed the thing up a little for you. So, make sure they know at the office that you won't be leaving the house until at least 9:30 a.m. They live here too, I'm sure they'll understand.
2. Make Your Kids Do It
Look, I get saying, "Hey, go clean my car," isn't quite the same as having your kid shovel the driveway, or mow the lawn in the spring. However, your kids are there to do the chores you don't want to do. This is also science, so take advantage.
3. Have a Garage? Keep Your Car in There
I did say this was cheating, didn't I? Clearly, if you have the option to bypass the snow all together, and can keep your car in a garage, just do that. As an added bonus, you can combine this with number two, and have your kids shovel the driveway before you get up. Then, you won't even know it has snowed. Science.
4. Don't
You know, there really isn't a rule that says you have to leave the house. If you're lucky, you can work from home, but if you're really lucky, you live with your parents, so you don't need that job anyway. Don't you just love science?
5. Give Up, and Move to Florida
If none of the above tips seem to be working for you, then I'm sorry, I can't help you. It's best to just give up, let the Colorado climate win, and get the heck out of Dodge. I hear Florida is nice this time of year. Comparatively speaking, of course.
