A Colorado Schoolhouse From the 1800s is Now a Luxurious Ranch

Coloradans do a great job of preserving the state's historical past. Many structures from the 19th and early 20th centuries are still standing today, and quite a few of them have been transformed into unique dwellings, businesses, and other hotel-like accomodations.

Examples of old structures being preserved for current use can be seen a lot with historic schoolhouses around the Centennial State.

Recently, a Colorado schoolhouse from the 1800s was converted into an upscale Denver hotel. The building was given some modern upgrades and much-needed improvements, but parts of the original architecture, such as the staircases, were kept intact.

Another former schoolhouse in Model, Colorado was renovated and turned into a spacious three-bedroom abode. The 9,000-square-foot building dates back to 1920 but much of its unique character remained untouched even throughout the major construction project.

A third example of an incredible preservation effort comes from the quaint town of La Veta, Colorado. Here, a one-room schoolhouse from the 1800s has been transformed into a gorgeous $1.625 million dollar homestead.
