Colorado Loves Electric Cars
2023 looks like it's shaping up to be a banner year for electric cars, which are now in more homes than even seemed possible fifteen years ago. Through a combination of increased environmental consciousness in society and lowered production costs, driving electric is no longer a privilege of the...privileged, anymore.
You might not think Colorado would be a hot state for electric vehicles, inundated as we are with trucks on our roadways, but you'd actually be wrong. In fact, electric vehicles in Colorado have never been more popular than they are right now, and if current trends continue, traditional vehicles will have to share a whole lot more of the market with their electric cousins by the end of the decade.

This is according to a new report that found that more than 1 in 10 new vehicle sales in Colorado were an electric vehicle in 2022. That's about three times as much market share as just three years ago and gives Colorado the fifth-highest rate of new EV purchases in the country. Yeah, I think it's safe to say that there's a market for electric vehicles in Colorado, despite all the black smoke you see on the freeway.
This rate increase is so pronounced that state officials have announced plans to transition Colorado's state transportation system entirely. The current goal is to be 100% electric vehicles by 2050, and they might actually be able to pull that off. If you want to find out more about the State's plans, check them out at Colorado Newsline.
