Majestic Views and Mouth Watering Cuisine Inside Colorado’s Highest Restaurant
Colorado can hang its hat on several unique destinations and places of interest on both sides of the state. We've got the most 14ers in the United States, the best National Parks, the best ski resorts, and we even have the highest restaurant in America.
Ha Ha Ha, not that kind of high. We're talking about elevation. Right here in Colorado, you can find an Italian bistro with table service at the summit of one of North America's best places to ski.
Where is Colorado's Highest-Elevated Restaurant?
High on top of the snow plume at the Arapahoe Basin Ski Resort sits a restaurant called II Rifugio. Windows throughout the restaurant give guests at each table an incredible view of the Rocky Mountains and the skiers flying down the slopes. Arapahoe Ski Resort is located in Summit County, Colorado. The ski season at Abasin runs until June 1st or later.
What is on the Menu at II Rifugio?
As we mentioned II Rifugio is an Italian Bistro. You may feel as if you are in the Italian Alps when you dive into your charcuterie. Colorado meats and cheeses are on the menu with soups, salads, and flatbreads. Scroll through the photos below to see the deli in action.
Important Reminders About Visiting II Rifugio at A-Basin
Unless you get permission to ride a snowmobile up to the restaurant, you are likely going to make it to Snow Plume by taking the ski lift. This means you will have to ski back down to the basin after your meal. Know that all slopes around II Rifugio are Blue Intermediate routes. If you can't ski down blue runs, you'll want to check out the Steilhang Hut or Legends Cafe.
