Hard to believe, but the new year is upon us. That means it’s time to start fresh for the new year.

For a lot of people that I know, making a New Year’s Resolution is a difficult task. Some enter into it lightly, knowing they will probably break it before too long. Others go all out, doing everything they can to make the resolution stick.

According to an article published on Healthline.com, it takes 18 to 254 days for a person to form a habit, and an average of 66 days for a new habit to become automatic. If you are above average, it would only take you about 3 weeks to make that resolution stay. For the rest of us, it could take about 2 months.

I always have great aspirations to make resolutions, but I seem to fall in the 254-day category to make a new habit stick. Maybe I should look on the bright side: I’ve got about 8 months to develop that habit, and therefore I don’t feel quite so pressured.

In all lists of New Year’s Resolutions, many are topped with losing weight and living healthier. Most people I know, including me, could live healthier than they do, and losing weight is not really one of my priorities, though I could stand to lose a couple of pounds.

Job search website Zippia conducted a study, using Google Trends to find the most searched resolutions by state. According to the study, therapy topped the list in 12 states. Weight loss, more vacations and getting better sleep were also popular.  For Colorado, the top resolution seems to be meeting new people. I found that fascinating, as my home state has the same top choice.

Sometimes meeting new people can be intimidating. Luckily, for most of us here in Radio Land, we get a chance to meet new people all the time. More fortunately, some of those people become lifelong friends. So, thank you to all of our loyal listeners, customers and friends.
