Do You Live in the Smartest City in Colorado?
A new study by WalletHub has ranked Colorado Springs as the 17th most educated city in America. The study compared the 150 largest metropolitan statistical areas in the country and looked at 11 key metrics, including the share of adults with a bachelor's degree or higher, and the overall quality of education.
COLORADO SPRINGS IS AMONG THE MOST EDUCATED
Colorado Springs scored well in several of these categories, including a high percentage of high school diploma holders (5th in the nation).
Colorado Springs is not the only Colorado city to make the list of the most educated cities in America. The Denver-Aurora-Lakewood region was ranked 11th overall, with a high share of adults with a bachelor's degree or higher.
DID ANY OTHER COLORADO CITIES MAKE THE LIST?
Surprisingly, no. I am shocked that there weren't more Colorado cities on the list.
Colorado is known for its high quality of life and its excellent schools. However, the WalletHub study looked at a number of factors, including the percentage of adults with a bachelor's degree, the quality of public schools, and the gender education gap.
In some of these categories, Colorado cities did not perform as well as cities in other states.
According to the list Huntsville, Alabama is more educated than nearly every city in Colorado.
I'm sure that Colorado will continue to improve its educational attainment in the years to come. The state has a strong commitment to education, and its economy is growing rapidly. As more and more people move to Colorado, the state's educational institutions will need to expand to meet the demand.
