They only put up their wonderful creations in six states, and this year Colorado will definitely be back on the list. The thing is, it just may be too far for those who'd like to see them to actually go.

Then again, for those who really enjoy the Ice Castles during the holidays, as long as it's in Colorado, they'll be going. Also, why not make it a big Colorado weekend adventure?

The folks at Ice Castles have one goal in mind:

To make people smile.

Since 2011, at each location, they have been using hundreds of thousands of icicles that are hand-placed, along with LED lighting to delight us all.

It has been sad that they haven't been able to secure a location for a couple of years, but they are coming back to Colorado.

WHAT DO ICE CASTLES FEATURE WHEN THEY COME TO COLORADO?

  • Ice Slides.
  • Caverns and archways.
  • Crawl tunnels.
  • Professional art sculptures.
  • Winter characters.
  • A private Arctic alcove.

Cripple Creek is about three hours from the Fort Collins area. Though Cripple Creek will be a great spot for those in the Colorado Springs/Pueblo area, it's definitely not the easiest of small towns in Colorado to get to, especially when it comes to winter.

WHY DID ICE CASTLES PICK CRIPPLE CREEK IN COLORADO?

Ice Castles stated that they are excited to partner with Cripple Creek, as it's known for its annual Ice Festival that takes place in February, which does make a lot of sense.

Some folks might think about planning a big weekend in the Cripple Creek area: Stay in Cripple Creek (or nearby), do a little "mountain town gambling," and check out Ice Castles.
