Many are beginning to transition to fall, and with it, they are also starting the Halloween season. Some disagree with this and think it is too soon; some think it started before September, and others think now is the time to begin the spooky season. Some will tell you that Halloween is only one day a year and that it is only October 31. There are also many who believe it is an entire season, and there has been a debate for years about when it begins. According to a recent survey on halloweencostumes.com, 64% of people say that Halloween season begins officially in early October, but there are 20% that say it begins in September. Interestingly, more people say it begins in July than in August, with 9% saying it starts in July, and only 7% saying in August. This seems very early, as I don't know many who are thinking about Halloween when it is in triple digits and the hottest months of the year. With the season fast approaching, or having begun for some, what is the most important thing for getting a costume this year, and how are people spending their money?

When it comes to starting the season and looking for ideas this year, 43% said they start by searching the internet, 18% said they ask friends and family for ideas, and 15% get ideas from TikTok. When it comes to decorations this year, 32% said they are likely to purchase a Jack-o'-lantern, 19% said an animatronic, and 13% said ghosts and hanging props. Compared to last year, 55% said they are likely to spend less on costumes this year, 55% will spend the same on decorations, and 45% will spend more on candy. When it comes to buying costumes this year, 30% said the most important this is comfort, fit, and ease of wear, with 26% saying they care most about quality, and 20% are mostly concerned about affordability.
