New Michaels to Open in Loveland

As of the summer of 2026, Colorado has 24 Michaels locations across 20 cities. By the end of 2026, Loveland will be city #25, and it's about time. When you think about all the people in Northern Colorado who love to craft and decorate, it's been silly not to have one in Loveland.

Where Will the Michaels Location be in Loveland, Colorado?

It seems hard to believe that it's been almost 10 years since the Staples that was at Centerra closed. It was the first Staples in Northern Colorado when it opened at 1665 Rocky Mountain Avenue in 2007, but it closed in 2017. Michaels is currently renovating the 20,000-square-foot space to be the first one in Loveland.

When Will Michaels Be Opening in Loveland?

I reached out to RealBerry when I saw the space begin to go through its transformation, wanting to know who was coming in. RealBerry let me know that Michaels was bringing a Loveland location to the spot, and they hoped to have it ready by early November.

While this Michaels will be somewhat close to the Hobby Lobby that's at the Johnstown Plaza, Michaels has a huge following, so they should do just fine. In 2022, US News & World Report looked at which of the two is better: They found that Michaels came out on top because they have a better variety and better deals.

Michaels seems, to me, like a great fit for that area of Centerra, with Nothing Bundt Cakes, Panera, and Dollar Tree all nearby. If anything, it's great to see one of Loveland's empty storefronts finally get some action.
