Mrs. Claus for a cause started four years ago by Leah Cole. If you meet Leah you can feel her enthusiasm as soon as you talk to her.

It all started when Leah Cole was behind a dad and his kids at City Market four years ago. All he had was peanut butter and bread. She heard him say he just lost his wife and job. That's all they would have for Christmas. She bought them some groceries and went to her car where she always keeps toys and coloring books. She wanted them to have something for Christmas. That was the start of her journey as Mrs. Claus For a Cause.

The first year it was at her house. Since then it's moved to different venues, and this year it will be held at the Elk's Lodge in Montrose on December 17th for everyone, and the 18th for special needs children..Please register your childs name at

She has about five to 10 Businesses that now help with the event. There will be 20 boxes put around town including Coffee Trader, Horsefly, Boys and Girls Club, Townsquare Media, and many others. They store most of the toys at the Boys and Girls Club, and her storage locker. More locations will be on their Facebook page.

She is in need of volunteers every year. She has many she would like to thank as well. They buy and sort by age groups. If you'd like to donate or volunteer please email, or call 800-231-0609.

We thank Leah for her wonderful dedication to making sure children have a Merry Christmas.
