From being once told he would never walk again to climbing to the top of the Manitou Incline, this man not only defied all odds but is a true inspiration to all of us.

Patrick Rummerfield was involved in a car accident when he was just 21 years old  and was paralyzed from the neck down. Forget about never walking again, doctors told him and his family that he probably only had a few days to live due to the severity of his injuries sustained in the accident.

Flash forward almost 50 years later and in between all of the surgeries, rehab, physical therapy setbacks, hard work, dedication, grit and several marathons and iron man competitions, this approximate 3000 step climb to the top of the Manitou Incline almost seems like a walk in the park.

How did he do it? How has he done it? These were the first two questions that popped into my mind after hearing about this miracle man.   Patrick answered those questions to KKTV 11 News:

“Ya know, it’s kind of like planting a seed,” Rummerfield explained before taking on the Incline. “The first couple of months you don’t see anything, maybe a year you don’t see anything. and then all of a sudden, here comes a flower or a tree. And that never would have happened if you hadn’t have planted that seed first.”

This man is a prime example how important it is to just keep going, no matter what struggles you may be going through, just keep going and give every day everything you got because you just never know how many more we have.   Thank you Patrick and congratulations.
