Ski Season Has Begun on the Western Slope

Ski season has begun in some parts of Colorado earlier this month. As far as local skiing on the Western Slope within two hours of Montrose, it began this past week.

Official Ski Mountains Open: Breckenridge and Vail November 11th, Purgatory November 19th, Crested Butte November 23rd, Telluride and Aspen November 24th, and Powderhorn this past Friday, November 25th.

If you are a skier like me you're probably making plans to get up to the slopes. I started skiing in my teens in Southern California, now don't laugh it's nothing like skiing in Lake Tahoe where I moved here from. It doesn't compare to Colorado at all.

Now my dream is to ski in Aspen, but I'm not quite as daring as I use to be. So for now I stick to Powderhorn and Telluride. I live within an hour or so of both. I just love it when I'm on the ski lift chair and headed for my first run. That cold air whipping across my face is the best. Now if it's a sunny day that's even better. But the hardest part of the day is putting on the ski boots and getting your ski bindings fitted.

I feel so lucky that I spent 5 years in Lake Tahoe, Ca, and now almost 5 years in Montrose Colorado. I love the snow, the skiing and oh the sledding too. Hope to see you on the slopes!
