Denver Top 12 for Day Trips – Clearly Without Western Slope Input
I know, gas prices fluctuate the way they have been, and "day trip" can sometimes be considered an offensive phrase. Let's just pretend, for a moment, that the idea of driving to another town for a day doesn't make you wretch. Where would you go?
Well, it turns out a lot of people are going to Denver, and why wouldn't they? It's the capital, the biggest city in the state, and by virtue of those first two facts, there's way more to see and do there than you ever possibly could in one lifetime. Basically, it's a great place to visit.
If you live in Montrose, Denver is also about five hours away. So, when it was named the 12th most popular city in the US for day trips, I was able to swiftly deduce that they likely didn't ask for the opinion of too many Western Slope residents. I think most of us would pick Grand Junction or Telluride before we even thought about Denver, and when we did think about Denver, we'd laugh at how much time that would waste, then move on with our lives.
Sure, a flight would take about an hour, but do you really want to pay for plane tickets, both ways, just to knock about Denver for a few hours? I mean, it's ok if you would, I guess, but we're very different people. However, I'm willing to be wrong, so we put the question to you: would you plan a day trip to Denver on the Western Slope, or would rather spend that gas money on something a little closer? Let us know with that AppChat.
