Valentine's Day is here in two weeks. Have you made any plans? Maybe you are dating someone new, and are looking for a great spot to hang out. Let me suggest Phelanies Speakeasy downtown in Montrose. The decor is 1930s style, with comfy couches, and love seats. They have such great craft cocktails. They give you a sample drink as you walk it. Make sure you have the weekly password, which you can get on their Facebook page.
The first thing I ever tried there was the French Press. Gin, fresh lime juice, housemade simple syrup, and a splash of, well you get the point. It was a summer night, so that was delightful. They also have many classics like the old smokey (Which they make right in front of you. Also Manhattan, and whiskey sour. If martinis are your thing their lemon drop is so good. The Cherry Martini even has cream in it.
They have absolute favorites like the Elderflower sour, you'll have to try that one for sure. They even have beer and wine. There are appetizers as well. Stop in with your spouse, or date, you will be pleasantly surprised. They are located at 19 south Junction ave, just off of the Downtown main street. They open at 5 p.m. Tuesday thru Saturday.
Now you may be ready for dinner so let's head on down to the Stonehouse on south Townsend Ave. They have fine steaks, seafood, pasta, weekly specials, and great cocktails too. There french orange martini is awesome, as beer, wines, bourbon, and whiskey. Oh, I almost forgot there Cadillac margarita. Now you have some plans to make for Valentine's day. Enjoy!
