One Year Has Passed Since Marshall Fire Started in Colorado

One year has passed since the Marshall Fire happened in Boulder County, Colorado. The Marshall Fire started on December 30, 2021, and was declared fully contained on January 3, 2022.

The wildfire burned 6,026 acres of land, destroying more than 1,000 homes, and quickly became the most destructive fire in Colorado's history. The wildfire fueled by high winds caused $2 billion in damages and killed two people. 9 News states that Boulder County Sheriff, Joe Pelle, says that the investigation into the cause of the Marshall Fire is nearly complete.

Pelle confirmed with 9 News that there was more than one ignition point.

There's going to be more than one ignition point. I think we're going to have a couple of fires that started almost simultaneously that grew together into one big fire

Pelle tells 9 News. A year later, many residents that lost their homes still are in the process of rebuilding their lives.
