Axios has reported that a sugar shortage will be responsible for candy prices to spike in 2023.

Companies like the Hershey Company, Mars Incorporated, and Nestle might struggle to meet demand. When companies can't meet demand, they raise their prices to ensure they will have a demand.

Last year, candy prices soared 13% ahead of Halloween. This will unfortunately be a continuing trend for years to come.

INFLATION IS ALSO TO BLAME

Candy in the Centennial State could also be more expensive compared to the rest of the nation. Earlier this year, Denver was ranked the seventh major city that was hit the hardest with inflation.

So, if you're planning on stocking up on candy for Halloween this year, be prepared to pay a little bit more. The sugar shortage and inflation are both contributing to higher candy prices, so it's not just a Colorado problem. But even if you have to spend a little bit more, it's still worth it to enjoy the spooky season.
