Several years ago, we went to a Super Bowl event in Las Vegas. I don’t even remember which teams were playing that year. But I do recall how many things you could bet on.

This year’s game proves to be no different in that aspect. However, there might be even more available bets this year. With Kansas City’s tight end Travis Kelce dating Taylor Swift, there are likely some new options.

Of course, a standard bet is who will win the game. You’ve got a 50% chance of getting this one right, but following the teams through the season and doing your research are keys to winning this bet. There are evidently some big wagers being placed on the teams this year.

Proposition Bets:

I didn’t realize there are three types of prop bets: game props, player props, and novelty props. Some are more popular than others.

The outcome of the coin toss is a popular novelty bet. You’d think it would be a 50/50 chance, but according to Fox Sports, “tails” has a 30 to 27 lead in all time results, winning approximately 52.6% of the time. If I were betting, I might choose heads this year. Not only can you bet on whether the outcome will be heads or tails, but you can also place a wager on which team will win the toss, and if the winner of the coin toss will win the game.

Will the first score of the game be a touchdown, a field goal, or a safety? Which team will score first, and what player will score?

Novelty Bets:

Of all the betting options, I think I’d enjoy the novelty category the best.

Which color of Gatorade will be dumped on the winning coach? Taylor Swift’s favorite color is supposedly purple. Is that the color she’d bet on? A couple of online articles say the most popular color to use is orange.

You can also place bets on the first and last songs to be played during halftime, and th number of songs played during halftime overall. The number of commercials that will be aired during Super Bowl 58? There’s a bet for that.

Who will be named MVP? According to Fox Sports, currently the favorite is the Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes II. The list also includes the 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy, and running back Christian McCaffrey, as second and third favorite respectively. Fun fact: Christian McCaffrey is the son of former 49ers and Broncos wide receiver Ed McCaffrey.

I’m not sure what a flea flicker or an Octopus are, but you can bet on whether or not those will occur during Sunday’s game.

Back to Taylor Swift.

Since her relationship with Travis Kelce went public, some sports books think she will be a good bet too. My girls asked my husband each week if the camera showed her at the games; he assured them that they did. Some of the most popular bets include how many times she’ll be shown during the game, if she will be shown on TV before Travis, and if they will appear in a commercial together. I’ve heard you can also bet on whether or not Travis will propose to Taylor on the field after the game.

Whether you’re betting or not, I guess we’ll have to wait until Sunday to find out.

Taylor Swift's Best Pictures From Travis Kelce's Super Bowl Season

Taylor Swift's love of the Kansas City Chiefs seems to mirror her love of boyfriend Travis Kelce. At first, she was a little awkward, but by the end of the season, she'd grown passionate for both.

Here are 29 of the best pictures of Swift and her posse from this NFL season and playoffs. There is one more game to go, but it's not clear if she'll make it to the Super Bowl since she has a concert in Tokyo the night before. Either way, watch as her fandom gains confidence and friends.
