Teen's Remains Found in Freezer of Colorado Home Now Identified

Can you imagine moving into a new Colorado home only to discover that human remains have been found on the property? Would you be able to finish moving in, or would you be having a long talk with your real estate agent?

Human remains were discovered at a property on Pinyon Avenue in Grand Junction in January 2024. This week the Mesa County Sheriff's Office followed up on the gruesome discovery by releasing the identity of the person whose remains were found.

Remains Discovered in Grand Junction

The Mesa County Sheriff's Office issued a press release on Friday, October 11th, indicating that the remains found earlier this year at a home on Pinyon Avenue in Grand Junction, belonged to 16-year-old Amanda Overstreet. According to People.com, Overstreet was the biological daughter of the previous homeowners. The 16-year-old was last heard from in 2005 and was never reported missing.

A Shocking Discovery

When the story broke in January of this year, neighbor Sam Troester told News9.com that he noticed crews wearing white hazmat suits exploring the property. According to the Mesa County Coroner's Office, a human head and hands were discovered when two individuals came to claim a freezer put up for grabs by the new owners. As they got ready to transport the freezer, the contents fell out.

The Grand Junction Investigation Continues

The freezer was left behind when the Overstreet family vacated the property on January 12th. The new owners showed up later that day to clean up the property. They posted the previous owners left a freezer behind that could be picked up by anyone interested in having it.
