What to Do With Decent Weather in Colorado
The weather in Colorado is fun. One moment, you could be enjoying a beautiful, warm, and sunny day, the next it's raining cats and dogs. Sometimes, we'll go on a run of bad weather, and come out the other side with nice weather, only to find a storm or something after only 2 days of sun. Like I said; fun.
When you have long a poor weather streak in Colorado, it's easy to forget what you'd do if you ever saw a decent day again. To help alleviate that burden, here are some of the first things you should always do when you've got good weather after a string of bad. Perhaps a windy week is giving way to a calm and temperate weekend? Here's how you can prepare to make the most of it.
First: Open the Windows
Anytime we have weather, the first instinct is to close the windows to your home in an attempt to keep things normal inside. Unfortunately, and especially when you're coming from cold temps, it is way too easy to forget that you've been running the heat for two months. Until you get the heating bill, that is, then you'll remember. So, the absolute first thing you have to do when you have good weather dawning on you is to open your windows back up, and let some of that funk out.
Keep Your Plans Reasonable
The other thing that's the easiest to do with a good-weather weekend is to make too many plans to compensate for how much time you've spent indoors and at home. The first weekend of spring? Obviously, that means a hike, a bike ride, a trip to the park, a trip downtown, some shopping, and maybe a picnic. Oh, and don't forget to stop for ice cream. As you can see, you have a lot of options, but only a finite amount of time, so keep your list of activities to one or two big things and just enjoy the rest of your time.
Don't Hurt Yourself
In the same vein as our previous recommendation, don't forget that the weekend is supposed to be for rest, even when the weather is nice. Make sure not to overexert yourself trying to make the most of your time in the sun. Drink plenty of water, and maybe a nap or two to recharge your batteries in the afternoon. I mean, that's what hammocks were made for, right?
Have Fun
The most important thing to do with a weekend of good weather is to enjoy it. Sometimes, Colorado can go weeks without decent weather on Saturday and Sunday, so we need to cherish the good weekends when we get them. Above all other things you try to do when the weather is nice, make sure to relax, blow off some steam, and have a little fun.
